Loíza Rose Handcrafted: A Dream Handmade with Love

Hello! My Name is Magliz García

I am Puerto Rican and have been living in the United States for 25 years. I am the proud mother of two daughters and grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters.

My Journey to the U.S.

My story in this country began in the year 2000 when I arrived with my baby, who was just a month and a half old. While I was excited to start a new life with my husband and daughter, I also felt deep sadness about leaving my family, with whom I have always had a strong bond.

I spent eight years in Texas, where it was easy to find people who spoke Spanish, but in 2008, we moved to Pennsylvania, and the challenge became even greater. I did not speak English, and finding someone to communicate with in my native language was difficult. Today, I am proud to say that, while my English is not perfect, I can speak and understand it.

Discovering a Passion

For over 10 years, my husband and I managed a skating business. While helping him run the rink, I developed a desire to learn how to sew. Without taking any classes or workshops, I taught myself and even created a Facebook group where I made reusable cloth menstrual pads, baby and children's clothing, and other handmade items. I discovered that sewing children's clothing brought me immense joy and satisfaction.

My Journey into Handmade Soaps

In 2018, during a vacation in Puerto Rico, I took my first cold-process soap-making workshop, and a few days later, I learned the hot-process method. It was love at first sight! My passion for natural products was born at that moment.

I started making soaps for my personal use, but over time, my daughters and friends became interested in them. What began as a hobby turned into a meaningful project for me. I felt it was time to take this passion to the next level, and in 2023, I took the first big step: finding a name for my business.

With the help of my daughters, we realized that the middle names of my granddaughters formed the perfect name: Loíza Rose Handcrafted. This name holds deep meaning for me, as it represents my first two granddaughters while also capturing the natural and handcrafted essence of my products.

The Journey of Entrepreneurship

The process has not been easy. The first challenge was finding the right person to design my branding—someone who understood my vision and could bring it to life. But the biggest challenge has been stepping out of my comfort zone and introducing my brand to the world.

In April 2024, I participated in my first craft show. As an introverted person, speaking to strangers—especially in a language that is not my own—was a significant challenge. However, I pushed through, and the experience was incredible. Since then, I have participated in several more events, each one helping me grow and connect with people who value natural products as much as I do.

My Philosophy and Promise

I am honest with myself and with others. I believe in the power of natural ingredients and the importance of caring for our bodies without harsh chemicals.

The first time I made soap was a magical experience. I couldn’t believe that for so many years, I had been buying something in stores that I could create with my own hands. Since that day, I have never bought commercial soap again.

My dream is for Loíza Rose Handcrafted to reach many homes and for more people to discover the beauty and benefits of natural skincare.

I am incredibly grateful to my family for being my foundation on this journey, for believing in me, and for supporting me every step of the way. I also want to thank a dear friend whom life placed in my path. Without expecting anything in return, she helped me launch my online store and shared all her knowledge with me. And of course, thank you to every one of my customers for trusting in my work and making this dream possible.
